Emma

Border Collie

Emma arrived in 2024 from Border Collie Rescue of Northern CA. This wonderful organization rescues BCs from shelters and the volunteers foster them as they await their forever home. Photos of available dogs are posted online and when I saw her cute face I was hooked.

At about a year old, Emma was picked up as a stray and we are guessing by her submissive behavior that someone wasn’t nice to her. Apparently, it took quite awhile for her to even accept treats from her foster’s hand. When I went to meet her, I was told to quietly sit in a chair and wait for her to check me out. I brought Swifty with me and they were good together so I decided to take the chance and loaded scared Emma into the car. Knowing that I am a foster failure I knew she was going home for good! Emma is not a typical border collie as she seems to be missing the herding instinct. We like that! She is more playful than driven and does not feel the need to herd the cats. Instead, she plays with her dog friends and her toys and lays her head in the lap of her human friends waiting for pets. We love our Emma.
