Meet Tioga: Our Unexpected Miracle

In May 2025, a very special arrival made his way to Wildworks—Tioga, a mountain lion cub just five weeks old, baby bottle in tow. He came to us from a licensed facility in Arkansas, where his story began in the most unexpected way.

His parents, long-time residents at the facility, had never shown signs of reproducing. Then one day, seemingly out of nowhere, a single cub appeared in their enclosure—a surprise that stunned everyone. In the zoo world, news of such an unexpected birth travels fast, and it reached us just in time.

Wildworks had said goodbye to its last mountain lion in 2023 due to old age, and we believed we might never again have the chance to care for one of these magnificent animals. Then came the call that changed everything: “It’s a boy!”

Tioga is more than just a new addition—he’s a symbol of hope and continuity. We are honored to care for him throughout his life and to share his journey with all of you. Welcome, Tioga!
