Meet Bear: The Bobcat with a Border Collie Best Friend

Bear joined the Wildworks family as a tiny 5-week-old kitten from the state of Montana—a playful, fluffy bundle of energy from the very start. Upon arrival, Bear quickly caught the attention of Swifty, our resident border collie, who took it upon herself to “mother” the newcomer in her own unique way.

Much to everyone’s surprise, Swifty began gently picking Bear up by the scruff of his neck and carrying him around the room, just like a mother cat would do with her kitten. It may have looked a bit rough around the edges, but Bear took it in stride—and the bond that formed between the unlikely pair has grown ever since. Today, Bear and Swifty are inseparable best friends.

Though Bear will grow to be about the size of a California bobcat, he’s actually a different species. While they share a similar look and belong to the same feline family, Bear is his own wild and wonderful kind.

We're thrilled to provide Bear with a lifelong home here at Wildworks, and even more thrilled to share his journey—and his friendship with Swifty—with all of you.
