Her Story

Panama, the bobcat, has been in Mollie's care since she was a three-month-old kitten. They shared a house in Redondo Beach, along with Mollie’s domestic house cat, John. When the growing bobcat’s wild cat ways caused her to rip Mollie’s bed apart one day, new living quarters were arranged. Panama was suitably ensconced outside in a tree house in the middle of a large shady tree. At the time, Mollie was working at the Los Angeles Zoo, and it was decided that Panama would once again relocate to become a participant in the Zoo’s Wild in the City Show. When the show was cancelled in 1993 she moved to Wildworks, along with mountain lions Phoenix and Sage, as one of the founding animals.  In her enclosure at Wildworks, Panama delights in rolling around on wild sage or freshly washed blankets. Her favorite treats are perfume samples from magazines and sour milk cartons. Although she looks small, when she wants to she can sound surprisingly BIG!
