His Story

This tiny critter is a fennec fox native to the African Sahara. These are the smallest foxes and the smallest canids in the world.  Foxy could fit into a teacup when we received him in 2002 at six weeks of age. His ears were unusually huge and remain so to this day, appearing way too large in proportion to his three-pound body. Foxy was raised in the house and he was a handful, chasing the cats, dogs, and the macaw, Jammy, while collecting and hiding his favorite toy–socks! During roughhouse play, one of the dogs stepped on his paw, and Foxy ended up with a hairline fracture (and a cast). Even that didn't slow him down!
